We are pleased to announce we have agreed to make more money for Ernest (as if they need it !). By linking them to the famous Clutha website, we bring them to the attentions of Millions of:- regulars, not so regulars, A & R men, record producers charlatans and chancers, the list is endless. Here’s to Wullie and Ernest, after all they went out of their way to make our cheeky wee ‘Rock The Clutha’ which opens the site, thanks Boys !. Their link is www.ernestmusic.co.uk
January saw the second “Not so serious” Burn’s Night Dinner to be held at the Clutha Bar, and a great night was had by all. One of the many highlights of the night had to be the fine rendition of Tam O’ Shanter by Alan Sneddon. If you missed it here is a video of Alan in action on the night courtesy of Pubjamsessions on YouTube:-
A very Happy New Year to all Patrons and friends of the Clutha and Scotch Corner. We wish you an excellent 2008.
We had a fantastic new year party and we would like to thank all who attended and all our entertainers with special thanks being reserved for Gerry McHugh and the ever popular Amy Bell.
It goes without saying that we needed a snow plough to get the stragglers out, there were even some who nailed themselves to the bar to get in for an extra half-hour, but thanks to the pub’s “trusty pliers” and burly female staff, they were freed, then mercilessly thrown out into the cold, freezing, damp, soaking, wet and wild wind and rain, whilst the same burly female staff enjoyed cooking a yuletide Donkey over the open fire whilst proceeding to spend their tits (whoops spelling error) drinking the entire bar dry. Ah Well that’s ne’reday for you.
The New Year events begin with the annual Burns Night dinner in the Clutha, it will be held on January the 28th @ 8.00pm and will feature a host of luminaries such as Big Ronnie delivering a fantastic rendition of Tam O’shanter (Not to be missed), then it all goes Pear shaped, Ian Adie doing Toast tae the Lassies (No Again, save us !), Auld Joe singing Burns (Jesus, wheres the Clyde, Help Ma Boab !) and Wee Wullie the man with the small appendage delivering Holy Willie’s prayer, or should it have read “Gie’s ma Hole” was Wullie’s prayer.
Robert Cameron will give the immortal memory (Hired in at great expense), Graham Reith (The guy with the big sword will slash the hell oot a haggis) and we all will get bevvied and sing ‘Auld Lang Syne’ only because it’s the only Burn’s song we know in the Clutha, roll on a Sidney Devine or Lena Martell night.
Tickets will be £10.00 each.
The bands performing in the Clutha during January will be published in the next couple of days, so there it is the start of another year and only a few week’s until the Beer Garden pays it’s way again, thank christ !.
Sandy hosted an Open Mic Spooktacular for this year’s Clutha Halloween Party. Many thanks to everyone who made the effort to dress up in fancy dress. There was a prize (a bottle of wine) for the best costume, which this year went to a Debbie Harry look-a-like. The apple dookin also proved popular, with a mixture of prizes from the bar.
As many of you will know Angie celebrated her 50th Birthday recently with a party at the Tall Ship, followed by drinks in the Clutha. Everyone joined in the spirit and dressed up as pirates, and a good time was had by all. Many thanks go to george for once again taking some great photographs of the night.
Ian Adie signs the classic “Stand By Me” at The Clutha’s Halloween Party. The video was recorded by Pubjamsessions. To see the rest of Pubjamsessions Clutha videos please visit Pubjamsessions YouTube page.
Back in August photographer Mark Hamilton took some stunning photographs of Scotch Corner, which you can see on The Scotch Corner website. This month he’s back with some more equally stunning view of The Clutha.
